U.S. 30

The Indiana Department of Transportation is narrowing down the list of potential improvements to U.S. 30 east of Valparaiso. Study teams have identified 55 potential solutions, as part of the ProPEL U.S. 30 study.

Road work will bring traffic restrictions to State Road 249 and U.S. 30. The Indiana Department of Transportation says the ramp from the Port of Indiana to U.S. 12 will be closed from Friday through the end of December.

U.S. 30 will be closed east of Wanatah for road repairs. Starting Wednesday, the eastbound lanes will be closed between U.S. 421 and LaPorte County Road 900 West for three to five days.

Watch for lane closures on U.S. 30 in Schererville on Thursday. The town says the right lanes will be closed in both directions west of Joliet Street/Old Lincoln Highway between 8:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. There will also be some total closures lasting up to 15 minutes.

Residents have a chance to weigh in on future improvements to U.S. 30 east of Valparaiso. The Indiana Department of Transportation is conducting a two-year planning and environmental linkages study it's calling ProPEL U.S. 30.

Hobart firefighters say a medical emergency appears to have caused the driver of a pickup truck on U.S. 30 to leave the roadway and crash into the Chuck E. Cheese restaurant Tuesday morning.

The city of Valparaiso is looking at making a riverfront district to bring more liquor licenses to the U.S. 30 area.

Drivers on eastbound U.S. 30 can expect more delays in Dyer. The Indiana Department of Transportation's work is scheduled to shift from the westbound lanes to the eastbound lanes, starting Wednesday.

A mother and her teenage son were killed in a crash on U.S. 30 in LaPorte County. Sheriff's deputies say it happened shortly before 8:00 a.m. Tuesday east of Wanatah.

Drivers using U.S. 30 in Dyer should be on the lookout for lane restrictions for the next couple weeks.
