The Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission will hold a public comment field hearing in Michigan City to hear from the public regarding NIPSCO’s proposal to raise rates. Lakeshore Public Radio's Dee Dotson and Tom Maloney spoke with a representative with Just Transition Northwest Indiana about a rally and press conference the organization is hosting before the hearing. Today’s housing market is highly competitive and pricing many out of buying a home and setting rental rates to new highs around the nation and right here in northwest Indiana.

Inflation is putting the pressure on renters as well as landlords causing rental rates to continue to rise to record levels. Representatives from Prosperity Indiana and the Lake County Housing Task Force discuss rental assistance programs available to help relieve financial hardships.
