The St. John police officer accused of shooting at an off-duty Hammond police officer has resigned. Officer Philip J. Fabian's resignation was accepted by the St. John Board of Safety Monday.

A St. John police officer faces criminal charges, after he allegedly fired several gunshots at a moving vehicle last November. Officer Philip J. Fabian, 33, will be charged with a Level 6 felony count of criminal recklessness and a Class A misdemeanor count of criminal mischief, according to a St. John Police Department press release.
