Indiana property tax caps are posing challenges to the Gary Community School Corporation's 2024 budget. Manager Dr. Michael Raisor adopted a budget totaling more than $74 million Monday. It includes an education fund of about $32.5 million and a referendum fund of about $10.3 million.

The Gary Community School Corporation is taking input on its plans to close its two middle schools. The first community forum on the "district sustainability" recommendations will be held Tuesday, October 24 at 5:30 p.m. at the Gary Area Career Center. Parents can also comment in an online survey.

The Gary Community School Corporation's manager says she's leaving the district. Dr. Paige McNulty said in a statement that her last in-person day will be Sunday, June 4, but she'll continue to help with the leadership transition until June 30. McNulty said she's "accepted a local position in higher education."
