The South Shore Line is expecting big ridership for Lollapalooza.

The South Shore Line plans to introduce cartoon animals and an activity passport to its marketing efforts, to try to get families with young kids to take the train to Chicago.

South Shore Line officials say they're working to smooth out some of the challenges caused by the Double Track project. The work has split the railroad in two, with buses bridging the gap between Gary and Michigan City.

While South Shore Line ridership is slow to recover from the pandemic, the railroad is carrying a record number of bicycles.
