Attorney General Todd Rokita is asking the Indiana Court of Appeals to dismiss Gary's lawsuit against gun manufacturers and sellers. The lawsuit began in 1999, as the city of Gary tried to hold gun makers and sellers liable for gun violence in the city.

Gary says it's one of 16 cities chosen to take part in the 2024-2026 Love Your Block Grant Program.

The city of Gary is about to get a bit brighter.

The Gary Housing Authority (GHA) will open its waiting list lottery for the Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) program October 21 through October 24, 2024.

The city of Gary is teaming up with the University of Notre Dame to create a new downtown master plan. Mayor Eddie Melton announced the partnership with the Notre Dame School of Architecture’s Housing and Community Regeneration Initiative during a press conference Tuesday.

"I think everyone can see that we're not playing," Mayor Eddie Melton said during a press conference Tuesday.

Another two Region communities are planning to form sustainability groups.

Gary will be able to unlock funding for downtown blight elimination, thanks to a donation from Hard Rock Casino.
