Gary Advocates for Responsible Development GARD

Members of the public will be able to weigh in, in person, on the renewal of U.S. Steel's air permit. The Indiana Department of Environmental Management will hold a public hearing on Thursday, April 25 at 6:00 p.m. at 21st Century Charter School at 556 Washington Street in Gary. Written comments are now due by April 29.

Environmental advocates in Gary want residents to have more opportunities to weigh in, before the state renews U.S. Steel's air permit.

Today: Representatives of "Gary Advocates for Responsible Development," or GARD, Carolyn McCready, Lori Latham and Lin Kaatz Chary are on "Regionally Speaking" to talk about the proposed Fulcrum BioEnergy trash-to-fuel conversion plant at Buffington Harbor. They are concerned about the project's environmental impact to an already-impacted community.
