Gary Advocates for Responsible Development GARD

  • Members of the public will be able to weigh in, in person, on the renewal of U.S. Steel's air permit. The Indiana Department of Environmental Management will hold a public hearing on Thursday, April 25 at 6:00 p.m. at 21st Century Charter School at 556 Washington Street in Gary. Written comments are now due by April 29.
  • Environmental advocates in Gary want residents to have more opportunities to weigh in, before the state renews U.S. Steel's air permit.
  • Today: Representatives of "Gary Advocates for Responsible Development," or GARD, Carolyn McCready, Lori Latham and Lin Kaatz Chary are on "Regionally Speaking" to talk about the proposed Fulcrum BioEnergy trash-to-fuel conversion plant at Buffington Harbor. They are concerned about the project's environmental impact to an already-impacted community. April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month, and we have a conversation about raising awareness on the importance of preventing child abuse and neglect.
