"I think that the concern is that we're going to keep Main Street being as fast a Main Street as we can, and we're not looking at some traffic engineering ways to reduce the speed on Main Street," said council member Chuck Gardiner.

Munster's plan to scale back a proposed Ridge Road project drew opposition during Monday's town council meeting.

A proposal to put part of Ridge Road on a "diet" has drawn concern in recent years, but the Northwestern Indiana Regional Planning Commission's active transportation planner is urging the town of Munster not to back out now.
