A longtime community leader received one final honor Tuesday. The Lake County Council approved a proclamation honoring former council member Clorius Lay, who died in February at the age of 83.

The Lake County Council appears to be closer to finalizing a contract with county police, after negotiations spilled into the council's regular public meeting Tuesday.

The Lake County Council welcomed back one of its former members Tuesday — this time, as the council's attorney. Council members approved a consultant contract with attorney Tom O'Donnell. He's expected to replace Ray Szarmach when he retires in the coming months.
