Lakeshore Sports for 7-2-18

Northwest Indiana Times

Guys, we had technical difficulties with sports today, so  we decided to go with plan B.

The Railcats and Oilmen both played doubleheaders yesterday. The Oilmen swept their twin bill with Joliet, winning game one 3-2, then finishing the sweep with a 5-2 win featuring NWI pitcher Christian Howell giving up only three hits while striking out 11.

The Railcats split their doubleheader with Lincoln, winning game one 5-2 behind four Railcats home runs.  Reggie Wilson, Colin Willis, Alfredo Gimenez, and Alex Crosby all going deep for the Cats.  Game two was a 1-0 loss for the Cats.

In MLB action yesterday, the Cubs beat Minnesota 11-10 while the White Sox knocked off Texas 10-5.

And two pitchers who led their teams to a state title were named prep baseball players of the year by the NWI Times. Mike Doolin of Andrean and Ty Bothwell of Boone Grove were so honored by the Times while Wolves coach Pat Antone was named coach of the year.

And in the NBA, LaBron is a Laker.

Glenn Robinson III (Lake Central) is a Piston.
