Regionally Speaking, January 19, 2022

Indiana University

Today: Marcus Martin with “Grace Beyond Borders” is back on “Regionally Speaking” to talk about the organization, its continuing mission to help the homeless in northwest Indiana and its participation in the January 26th statewide “count-in-place” of the homeless. It’s a federally-mandated count that is needed by homeless service providers to target their resources in the year ahead. Susan Thomas with “Just Transition NWI” speaks on the recent decision by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to begin major action to deal with coal ash pits outside coal-fired power plants around the country, like the one at NIPSCO’s Michigan City generating facility. And Ana Grandfield with the Merrillville Rotary Club talks about the 19th annual “Clothing Our Children” charity benefit event on February 6th at Avalon Manor. It will once again benefit the club’s annual distribution of $75 clothing vouchers to youths in several local school districts and to the Ross Township Trustee. This guarantees that the youth will stay warm this winter.
