Regionally Speaking, January 12, 2022

Today: Lake County GOP chairman Dan Dernulc is on “Regionally Speaking” to discuss the local political party, as the candidate filing period is underway for the May 3rd primary election. He talks about those who’ve already filed with the Elections and Voter Registration Office: current officeholders, and interested newcomers and who are going to file before the deadline. We also have a report on Tuesday night's State of the State address by Governor Eric Holcomb and Democratic Party reaction to it. Matt Schuffert, the president of Hard Rock Casino Northern Indiana in Gary, also talks about the 2021 donations that the new casino’s made to local nonprofit groups. Schuffert says their donations focused on groups which needed the most help.
