State of Indiana

Today: Lieutenant Governor Suzanne Crouch is on “Regionally Speaking” to talk about the annual “point-in-time” homeless count across northwest Indiana and the state on January 26th, and of the deadline for volunteers who’d like to help out in the count. This “point-in-time” count is of all sheltered and unsheltered people is mandated by federal government – and regularly used by homeless service providers to target their resources. Crouch also talks about the official designation of La Porte County as an official Broadband Ready Community.

We have another conversation from the Welcome Project at Valparaiso University. Lauri Keagle with South Shore Clean Cities is the local contact for applications for the next round of Partners for Clean Air scholarships. Keagle says the scholarship program allows PCA to give back to the Northwest Indiana community, by helping qualified students succeed in post-secondary education goals that are aligned with clean air and public health. Up to three scholarships of $2,500 will be awarded to qualified high school seniors in Lake, Porter or LaPorte Counties to assist with any post-secondary education expenses.
