Regionally Speaking, January 6, 2022

Today: On this Reporters Roundtable Thursday, “Post-Tribune” reporters Alexandra Kukulka and Carrie Napoleon will talk about the stories they put out in print and online. Kukulka’s stories include one of the first session day of the 2022 Indiana General Assembly session. She talked with members of the northwest Indiana legislative delegation and notes the change in how the COVID-19 pandemic is being addressed in the Statehouse this year. She also spoke with Congressman Frank Mrvan when he was back in Indiana for a veterans-sponsored program, and her story focuses on his first year in office. Napoleon’s stories cover the city of Gary’s GIVE program, which gave some residents a needed boost in their income at a time when they needed the help, and Hammond Mayor Tom McDermott, Jr.’s reinstatement of a mask mandate in city buildings. We also have a conversation with the Indiana Principal of the Year: Valparaiso Heavilin Elementary principal Bonnie Stephens.
