Today: Anthony Swinger with the Indiana Office of Utility Consumer Councelor is on "Regionally Speaking" to talk about next Tuesday’s public hearing by the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission at Boone Grove High School on the Community Utilities of Indiana (CUII) water & sewer rate hike case which is before the IURC. A decision on the rate hike request could come this fall. Valparaiso University chemistry professor Paul Smith also talks about Saturday's annual environmental symposium which, this year, focuses on solar energy. Speakers will talk about topics like outfitting houses with solar panels, all the way to the billion-dollar-plus Mammoth Solar Farm proposed for Starke & Pulaski Counties. And Angel Crone, Foster Success director of health and financial wellness, joins us to talk about the Basic Needs program – complete with a coordinator – to help youth coming out of foster care to meet their basic needs. Foster Success is the only statewide nonprofit organization supporting young adults transitioning out of the Indiana foster care system.
