Today: Valparaiso University humanities & Christian ethics professor Thomas Howard is on "Regionally Speaking" to talk about the new initiative: “Valpo on the Brink: Rethinking Mission, History and Identity at a Lutheran University.” He is the leader of the six-member group which is conducting the studies within the initiative. Their final reports are planned to be completed by March 2024. “Valpo on the Brink” seeks to rethink how the University approaches the complex cultural challenges of the modern day, including —among other issues — interfaith relations, race relations and political polarization and the relationship between the liberal arts and the professional fields. Also on the program are Anne Gregory, Purdue University Northwest's Dean of the College of Humanities, Education, and Social Sciences and two faculty members who worked on bringing the latest conversation in PNW's Series on Race, Racism and Anti-racism: philosophy professor Deepa Majumdar and education professor Lavada Taylor. Taylor is the engine behind bringing Tim Wise to campus for speaking engagements on Tuesday and Wednesday.
