A note from Michael Puente: Friday, April 1, 2022 marked our final ‘Off Mic’ show for Lakeshore Public Radio. I started this show about three years ago. Just so you know…we had a transition. WBEZ had a bureau that used to located in Crown Point, Indiana but made the decision to rent space here at the Lakeshore Public Media station in Merrillville and that’s when the idea was birth for me to host a weekly show on Lakeshore Public Radio. Over the years I’ve had a lot of fun and gave me the opportunity to try new things. Prior to ‘Off Mic’ I never hosted show before…well actually a very long time ago I hosted the show ‘Latin Lingo’ on Purdue University Northwest’s station WJOB with my good friend Myrna Maldonado. The show ‘Off Mic’ was an opportunity for me to go beyond the local reporting I do on WBEZ and it’s been a joy and a lot of hard work behind the scenes to put together a weekly show. I wanted to take an opportunity to thank you the listeners for supporting the show and reminisce on just a few of the many great interviews hosted on the show. I hope you enjoy this trip down memory lane. Finally, thank you to everyone at Lakeshore Public Radio …they have been great to work with.
