Michael Gallenberger
Before joining Lakeshore Public Media, Michael honed his skills as a news anchor and reporter at WKVI/WYMR in Knox, Indiana, and served as a correspondent for the Starke County Leader. Armed with a BA from Valparaiso University, majoring in Digital Media and Humanities with a minor in Spanish, and an MS in Digital Media, Michael brings a wealth of knowledge to his role at Lakeshore.
Since October 25, 2021, Michael has been an integral part of the Lakeshore Public Media team, although his journey with us began earlier as an intern, volunteer, and eventually a part-time board operator from 2009 to 2013. Beyond his work with Lakeshore Public Media, Michael is also a weekend newscaster and announcer at WVPE in Elkhart.
In recognition of his outstanding contributions, Michael was honored with the Indiana Broadcasters Association 2021 Spectrum Award for his exceptional coverage during the 2020 elections in Radio Market 2.
When he's not busy keeping the community informed, Michael enjoys unwinding with his favorite hobbies, including bike riding, tickling the ivories, and indulging in British and Italian television shows, all while grooving to his favorite tunes.

Helping kids stay safe around firearms is the goal of a new program from the Lake County Prosecutor's Office. The Gun Safety Literacy Program will teach kids in kindergarten through third grade what to do if they find a gun.
