UPDATE:
No shots were fired, and no gun was found following a lockdown of Lake Central High School on Wednesday morning.
A student in a restroom heard what he believed to be the loading of a gun, and called 911, said Chief of Police Steven Flores, during a press conference Wednesday afternoon. A school resource officer was able to take the two students in for questioning, but found no gun.
Several surrounding police departments responded to the active shooter call, as well as two SWAT Teams. Police officers and SWAT Team members searched room-by-room for a gun, but did not locate a weapon.
Dr. Larry Veracco, Superintendent of Lake Central School Corporation, says that two students were being questioned and all students are safe, in a phone call that went out to all familes at 11:03 AM.
Police officers and the Lake County SWAT Team surrounded the school around 10 AM, following a call to the St. John Police Department reporting an active shooter. Police entered the building and conducted a room-by-room search, according to The Times.
