Republican precinct committeepeople chose Indiana’s newest state lawmaker Monday.
Evansville realtor Tim O’Brien was elected in a private caucus to replace former Rep. Holli Sullivan (R-Evansville), who left the legislature earlier this month to become secretary of state.
O’Brien, who’s an officer in the Vanderburgh County GOP, said he will be a “fresh face of positive leadership” at the Statehouse.
O’Brien is the 15th lawmaker in the last four years initially sent to Indianapolis via private caucus.
Every person who has represented his southern Indiana district for the last 40 years was first elected in one of those caucuses and not in a general election.
