INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Republican Indiana Sen. Todd Young says he will vote to uphold Democrat Joe Biden’s Electoral College victory, going against President Donald Trump’s push to overturn the presidential election.
Young issued a statement just ahead of Wednesday’s joint session of Congress to tally the electoral votes, saying he'll “uphold my constitutional duty and certify the will of the states as presented.” Young says “The people voted and the Electoral College voted. Congress must fulfill its role in turn."
Indiana’s other U.S. senator, Republican Mike Braun, has said he will join about a dozen GOP senators vowing to object.
