The Indiana Governor’s Workforce Cabinet is getting more than two million dollars to support the state’s Rapid Recovery Plan. It’s intended to help with workforce training programs and career coaching in light of the pandemic.
The Indianapolis-headquartered Strada Education Network granted the money. It will support data collection that makes sure the cabinet’s education programs are linked to employment in high-demand jobs or a certification. The grant is in addition to $50 million already allocated to the plan through the state’s CARES Act allotment.

PJ McGrew is executive director of the Governor’s Workforce Cabinet. In a cabinet meeting Thursday, he says it will also expand existing programs like career coaching through Ivy Tech and the Indiana Skillful Governor’s Coaching Corps.
“The key and the largest amount of money, as part of this grant, will go to the second bulk here which is getting people back to work,” he says.
Through the Rapid Recovery Plan, workers and employers can access short-term job training programs. More initiatives are set to be added in the future.
