A third person in Indiana has died from the novel coronavirus – a second Marion County resident.

The Indiana State Department of Health said in a statement they were hospitalized for the virus and were over the age of 60. Of the more than 70 confirmed COVID-19 cases, only one is not an adult.

The number of cases getting tested are growing exponentially, in part because of better access to testing.

State Health Commissioner Kris Box says Eli Lilly is ramping up testing, to the point that it will process several hundred tests by the end of the weekend.

"We're continuing to explore other options for testing in the state," she says.

Box says new guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention are offering alternative testing options for laboratories.
