Valparaiso neighborhoods will be able to upgrade sidewalks, improve parks and plant trees, thanks to the city's Neighborhood Improvement Grant program.
The city has awarded a total of $216,175 to 20 neighborhoods in this year's grant cycle. When combined with local matches from the neighborhoods, that'll result in $350,720 in improvements.
Mayor Matt Murphy said in a statement that the grants "truly contribute to Valparaiso’s excellent quality of life as they unite neighbors for projects they care about and then fund the work for lasting benefit."
The city's awarded more than $1.3 million, since the program began in 2018.
