A one-mile stretch of U.S. 421 in Starke County will close for culvert work.

Another round of road projects is about to get underway.

Starting Saturday, the shoulders of I-65 will be closed between I-80/94 and 61st. Then on Monday, I-65 will be reduced to two lanes in each direction between 73rd and 137th. The southbound ramps at Ridge Road are scheduled to close next Thursday.

Those closures are to prepare for future traffic shifts that'll be in place during concrete restoration work, according to the Indiana Department of Transportation. That, in turn, will lead to more ramp closures and overnight lane restrictions. Work is scheduled to continue through late December.

Meanwhile, U.S. 421 will be closed between State Road 8 and State Road 10, starting Monday. Culvert repairs will have the highway closed between Starke County roads 400 and 500 South through mid-April. INDOT's official detour uses State Roads 8, 49 and 10.
