Region Counties Encouraged to Apply For Third Round of COVID Response Grants

There could be some help for businesses and non-profits who are impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, a third round of COVID-19 Response Grants is now available.

INDIANAPOLIS - There is now a third round of COVID-19 response grants available for communities to apply for to help those impacted by the pandemic. Lieutenant Governor Suzanne Crouch and the Office of Community and Rural Affairs are working with and overseeing the program. Crouch says some Northwest Indiana counties were awarded grants during the initial launch of the program in April and in the second round, in August.

Local units of government can apply for up to $250,000 for a grant.  Proposals will be accepted through January 29th, 2021.  Applications close on February 26th. The money is expected to be awarded in the spring of 2021.

Sharon Jackson is the local host of "All Things Considered" and a reporter for Lakeshore Public Radio. She has been with 89.1 FM since its launch in 2009. Sharon is also a radio DJ in Chicago, and has been since 2004. In her previous job at Metro Networks/Westwood One, she was heard on am 890 WLS, WGN radio 720 am and am 560 WIND. She has also delivered news and traffic reports on radio stations all over Chicago and the suburbs including 95.9 The River, 98.3 WCCQ and Star 96.7.
