Opioid Treatment Center Gets to Stay in Gary Neighborhood

GARY - An opioid treatment center that has relocated in Gary's Miller neighborhood is unwelcomed by several area residents, who took their concerns to city administration.

The "Times" reports the individuals concerned over the new location of Semoran Treatment Center, now at 5001 E. Dunes Hwy, were told that the treatment center has the right to stay where it is because the area in which it's located is already zoned so that health care services/medical offices are “permitted by right,” to be there.  That means no special public hearings or notifications were necessary for the facility to move there.
