MUNSTER- An Indiana State Trooper shot a 30 year-old Crown Point man after that person reportedly pinned that trooper to a police car with his vehicle.
The "Times" reports Eric Douglas led police on a chase early Tuesday with several passengers in his car, including a young child.
Munster police responded to a "suspicious" silver Nissan Sedan at about 12:30 a.m. Police say Douglas sped off without headlights on and tried to ram a Munster police car before taking off eastbound on I- 80 from Kennedy Avenue. He eventually crashed into a roundabout in East Chicago.
A trooper approached the car when it was stopped on Columbus. That's when Douglas reportedly accelerated forward and wedged the trooper against a police car. The officer then shot Douglas through the windshield of the Nissan.
Douglas and the trooper were transported and treated for non-life-threatening injuries. The name of the trooper involved is expected to be released Thursday.
