PORTER COUNTY - All Porter County employees will be tested for COVID-19 before the county reopens for business, which includes government buildings opening to the public.
The "Times" reports the tests begin Friday. Franciscan Alliance will be conducting the tests, up to 90 per day and results will be available in 24 hours.
The top priority will be given to first responders, including 911 dispatchers.
The government buildings will be reopened one at a time to the public and there will be a safety plan in place. There will be enhanced cleaning in the buildings. People will have their temperatures taken when they enter.
Clear plastic shields will be put in place to protect workers and customers at the counters of various offices.
Employees will be required to wear masks in common areas and will be encouraged to wear them at their private workspace.
The planning process is still underway.
