Indiana State Police Public Information Officer Trooper Glen Fifield, says it happened just after 1:30 a.m. Monday.
A 911 caller reported that a vehicle entered I-65 from the wrong ramp at U.S. 231. About one minute later, OnStar reported a crash involving a 2015 Chevrolet Corvette.
A preliminary investigation by police showed that a silver 2015 Kia was traveling in the center lane and struck a 2015 Chevrolet Corvette head on. The Corvette with two males inside, was traveling southbound in the center lane.
The driver of the Corvette was pronounced dead at the scene by the Lake County Coroner.
The driver of the Kia was transported to Franciscan Health in Crown Point. That driver also died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash. The passenger in the Corvette was transported to Franciscan Health for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the Kia has been identified as 21-year-old Anna Warner, of Beaverville, Illinois. The driver of the Corvette was identified as 20-year-old Suhail Saif Suhail Humaid Alder, of Indianapolis. Adler was an exchange student attending IUPUI in Indianapolis. Police say notifying Alder's family was particularly difficult as they reside in United Arab Emirates.
