LOWELL - An Indiana State Police dog is going to be safer on the job, thanks to the donation of bullet proof and stab proof vest.

ISP K9 officer, Rogue had received the donation of body armor from non-profit organization, Vested Interest in K9s, Inc.

Indiana State Police Trooper and K9 Handler Jason Pratt told Lakeshore Public Radio Tuesday that the protective vest just came in the mail for Rogue and is much needed.

Pratt says the vest covers all of Rogue's vital organs, everything except her head, so the protective devise will work for the dog in shooting or a stabbing.

Vested Interest is a charity in Massachuttes that was established in 2009, whose mission is to provide bullet and stab protective vests to dogs of law enforcement throughout the United States.

The organization has provided over 3,500 custom fitted protective vests that are also certified by the National Institute of Justice.

The donation to provide one protective vest for a law enforcement K9 is $950.00. Each vest has a value up to just over $2,250.
