Regionally Speaking, Monday, September 9, 2019

ABC-57 South Bend

Today:  We talk with Emily Cutka, the director of community engagement for the Food Bank of Northwest Indiana, about "Hunger Action Month" this month, the need for making sure that more than 90,000 area residents who face food insecurity get the help they need, and what Strack & VanTil is doing to "help the cause."  We also bring back our conversation with Kathy Luther with NIRPC about the coalition of groups  administering an $800,000 federal grant to remediate "brownfield" sites in Gary, East Chicago, Hammond and other communtities.  Luther says some sites've already been partially worked on and ready for cleanup or remediation as early as this month.

We also have our conversation with the organizers of the popular "Ask Rose" math and science homework tutoring service run by Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.

Chris Nolte produces and hosts “Regionally Speaking” aired weekdays from noon to 1:00 p.m. He's also the temporary local "Morning Edition" host.
