NORTHWEST INDIANA - Northwest Indiana gas prices are unchanged  in the past week, averaging $2.48 per gallon Monday, according to GasBuddy's daily survey of 314 stations. Gas prices in the Region are almost 18 cents per gallon lower than a month ago, yet stand just over 34 cents per gallon lower than a year ago.

According to GasBuddy price reports, the cheapest station in Gary was priced at $2.26 per gallon Monday while the most expensive was $2.79 per gallon.

The national average price of gasoline has fallen 1 cent per gallon in the last week, averaging $2.55/g Monday.

Patrick DeHaan, head of petroleum analysis for GasBuddy says for its eighth straight week, the national average has declined even as oil prices have bucked the trend in the last week, moving higher on optimism over upcoming trade talks between China and the United States.

DeHaan says while most of the country saw gas prices continuing to drop, it certainly was not all. The West Coast has seen gas prices rise gently in recent weeks, but he says those increases likely won't last.
