Regionally Speaking, Wednesday, September 4, 2019

Porter County Recycling.org

Today:   We begin with Indiana University Northwest's latest addition to its curriculum: courses that will lead to an Bachelor's Degree in neuroscience.  It's a program that will benefit not only students looking to careers in the medical  and health care fields, but will help students in learning to think critically about science information.  We talk with assistant psychology professor Maureen Rutherford. Donna Stuckert  with the Porter County Recycling and Waste Reduction District joins us to look at upcoming events and programs, including the final household hazardous waste drop-off event of the year.   And Leah Konrady of "One Region" and the new Northwest Indiana Regional Opportunities Council tells us about a new financing program that will help establish "transit-oriented development" projects along the expanded South Shore Line commuter railrioad between Hammond and Michigan City.

We also have the first in the new season of "Green Fleet Radio" programs from South Shore Clean Cities and NIRPC.  Your host for the series is Carl Lisek.

Chris Nolte produces and hosts “Regionally Speaking” aired weekdays from noon to 1:00 p.m. He's also the temporary local "Morning Edition" host.
