CROWN POINT, Ind. (AP) — Two northwestern Indiana police officers won't be charged for allegedly attacking and seriously injuring a third officer following a baby shower.
Lake County Prosecutor Bernard Carter said Monday his office has closed its criminal investigation without charging the two police officers, who are brothers.
Officers Andrew Bustos and Adrian Bustos each accepted 60-day unpaid suspensions last year for their actions in June 2018, when fellow Hobart police Officer Adam Ahmad was punched, knocked down and kicked in the face.
The Times reports Ahmad suffered permanent damage to an eye and several teeth.
He and the brothers were off-duty and had been drinking before the altercation, which followed a baby shower given for Andrew Bustos' wife.
Ahmad says he's deeply disappointed by prosecutors' decision not to charge the brothers.
