MERRILLVILLE— Lakeshore Public Radio is partnering with the Construction Advancement Foundation of Northwest Indiana (CAF) for a new on-air feature called “Building Northwest Indiana Radio,” providing listeners with insights into the northwest Indiana construction industry.
“Building and Construction is an integral part of the Northwest Indiana economy, but not many people can really comprehend the size and scope of what contractors and skilled labor do for the region,” said host Kevin Comerford, Director of Professional Development at the Construction Advancement Foundation of Northwest Indiana. “We hope to give listeners the opportunity to learn about the construction industry, career opportunities, the projects we build, and how we transform the region and improve the quality of life in our communities.”
“Building Northwest Indiana Radio” segment can be heard every Tuesday at 7:23 AM (Morning Edition), during the 12 PM hour (Regionally Speaking), and at 4:21 PM (All Things Considered) starting August 6th on Lakeshore Public Radio – 89.1fm.
Hosted by the CAF leadership team of Dewey Pearman, Dr. James J. Arendas and Comerford, the program will feature guests discussing an array of topics on current and future construction projects that are shaping the region, as well as public policy initiatives affecting construction and career opportunities in the field.
James A. Muhammad, President, and CEO of Lakeshore Public Media, sees this on-air effort as a partnership that promotes the region’s commitment to economic innovation in new business and with some of its most iconic manufacturing industries. “The data shows that Northwest Indiana is continuing to grow,” said Muhammad. “That says a lot about our values, our Midwestern work ethic and what we have to offer.”
