NORTHWEST INDIANA - The Indiana Dunes National Park is celebrating its new national park designation with a renaming ceremony on Tuesday May 28th and a massive indoor exhibit at the Indiana Welcome Center.
Park superintendent, Paul Labovitz, says "61: An Exhibit Celebrating the 61st National Park" will highlight various feature of Indiana Dunes National Park.
Labovitz, says the hall will be transformed to represent the 15,000 acres of diverse landscapes of the Indiana Dunes National Park. He says the exhibit will highlight activities available to those who visit the park.
The exhibit will feature 12 trail stops, including the Paul H. Douglas Center for Environmental Education, Little Calumet River, Portage Lakefront and Riverwalk, Century of Progress Homes, Indiana Dunes State Park and Mount Baldy.
The exhibit began Thursday, May 23rd and runs through September 21st, at the Indiana Welcome Center in Hammond, which is open seven days a week.... from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. from Memorial Day to Labor Day.
