Regionally Speaking, Wednesday, April 17, 2019

Indiana DCS web site

Today:  Besides a look at Indiana Humanities' "INSeparable" 2019 initiative as described by the organization's CEO Keira Amstutz, we talk about child abuse and neglect and  early childhood education.  Tami Silverman of the Indiana Youth Institute focuses on Child Abuse Prevention Month in her April comments,  and Regional Health Systems CEO Bob Krumwied joins us in the studio to talk about his organization and the latest expansion of Geminus Head Start's St. Mark Early Learning Academy in  Gary.  The facility nearly doubles the fumber of families and children served from 80 preschoolers to 144 infants, toddlers and preschool children.

Julie Whitaker, energy and sustainability coordinator at Valparaiso University, also talks about the April 24th public screening of the Lakeshore PBS-originated documentary "Shifting Sands: On the Path to Sustainability."  The film is being shown as part of an VU Earth Day celebration that includes a big day-long event on campus, on April 27th.

Chris Nolte produces and hosts “Regionally Speaking” aired weekdays from noon to 1:00 p.m. He's also the temporary local "Morning Edition" host.
