Regionally Speaking, Wednesday, January 16, 2019

patch.com

Today:   Purdue University Northwest joins Valparaiso University in planning celebrations of the life and work of civil rights icon Martin Luther King. Jr  next week.  We talk with the coordinator of the events on the Hammond and Westville campuses, Laura Odom, about the January 21st and 22nd events  and we bring back our conversation with Byron Martin and Heath Carter with Valparaiso University, about their January 21st program.   We also have a "Green Fleet Radio" conversation from 2018 about the IDEM program to use the VW court settlement funds coming to Indiana.  Carl Lisek is your host, from South Shore Clean Cities.

The Mascot Hall of Fame in Whiting is open and we have comments from the new sports-related museum's general manager as well as from Whiting Mayor Joe Stahura when the facility opened last month.  Our "friend in fur" Ollie from the Humane Society of Northwest Indiana is also back with answers to pet questions, on "Ask Ollie."

Chris Nolte produces and hosts “Regionally Speaking” aired weekdays from noon to 1:00 p.m. He's also the temporary local "Morning Edition" host.
