Porter County Recycling & waste Reduction District

Today:    Steve Coxhead, the president of the Indiana Passenger Rail Alliance, is with us to talk about the advocacy organization's lobbying efforts with state legislators to make sure that the Indiana Department of Transportation continues to support the "Hoosier State" and other regional passenger rail services. Hoosier lawmakers are working on a new two-year state budget this session.    Later in the program, Donna Stuckert of Porter County Recycling & Waste Reduction explains some changes coming at the county's six recycling drop-off sites, because of what officials are calling the "bad behavior" of some residents in their recycling habits.

The solid waste district is conforming with changes ordered by its contractor to be able to deal with big changes in the markets to which they channel all of the recyclables they collect.  The changes at the recycling drop-off sites are being implemented as soon as possible.

We have another edition of "Green Fleet Radio" with host Carl Lisek, supported by South Shore Clean Cities, and our "friend in fur" Ollie is back with answers to more pet questions sent in to him at the Humane Society of Northwest Indiana.

Chris Nolte produces and hosts “Regionally Speaking” aired weekdays from noon to 1:00 p.m. He's also the temporary local "Morning Edition" host.
