Regionally Speaking, Tuesday, December 11, 2018

IU Northwest

Today:   Northwest Indiana activist Ruth Needleman joins us in the studio to talk about --among other topics -- a look at some of the issues that could come up in the next General Assembly session, including Indiana teachers' pay, as well as the latest on the "Can We Talk" series of discussions leading toward the creation of a trauma center in Gary and "NWI Resistance's" proposed billboard against illegal immigration flights out of Gary-Chicago International Airport.  We have another conversation from the Welcome Project at Valparaiso University -- and Hoosier Environmental Council attorney Kim Ferraro tells us about another CAFO permit application from Natural Prairie Dairy in Newton County.

Ferraro says the HEC is asking for the Indiana Department of Environmental Management to more closely scrutinize NPD's latest CAFO permit application.

Chris Nolte produces and hosts “Regionally Speaking” aired weekdays from noon to 1:00 p.m. He's also the temporary local "Morning Edition" host.
