PNW Will Vote to Delay Diploma Changes

Purdue NW

A week after Purdue University Northwest announced that they would be changing diplomas earned by students in May of 20-19, reading Purdue University Northwest from Purdue University, the university has announced that they will seek to delay the changes to the diplomas.

Following student protests in opposition to the proposed changes to the diplomas at both Hammond and Westville campuses on Wednesday and Thursday respectively, Chancellor Thomas Keon and Purdue University Northwest have announced that they will seek to delay changing the diplomas' design until May of 2023.

The Vice President of Purdue Unversity Northwest Student Government Association, Dustin Thibideau says a delay is important for the communication process, “I do appreciate the delay. I hope something meaningful comes out of it. To me it seems that they're listening.”

The Purdue University Board of Trustees is scheduled to vote on the delay on October 12th.

Thibideau also notes that changes to the degree should be reflected University-wide, “I think a simple solution to this is would be to alter Purdue Global's degree to reflect the way they are for everybody else now.”
