INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — The Indiana Army National Guard has sent two helicopters and 14 pilots and crewmembers to North Carolina to help with Hurricane Florence relief efforts.

The Guard said Wednesday that the 38th Combat Aviation Brigade with two UH-60 Black Hawks deployed to Raleigh, North Carolina, on Sunday after a request for aviation support was received from North Carolina.

Florence made landfall last week. Rain-swollen rivers and creeks have flooded many North Carolina communities. More than 30 people have been confirmed dead in the Carolinas and Virginia because of the storm.

The Indiana National Guard responded to Hurricanes Harvey and Irma with more than 180 personnel last year.
