Illinois company plans NW Indiana plant, up to 580 new jobs

HOBART, Ind. (AP) — An Illinois company plans to build a manufacturing plant for the logistics industry in northwestern Indiana, creating up to 580 new jobs.

Elk Grove, Illinois-based Wynright Corp. announced plans Tuesday for the $26 million, 320,000-square-foot plant at a Hobart business park. The new plant will make material handling systems for the logistics industry.

Wynright designs, makes and installs intelligent material handling systems, including conveyor and sorting systems, automated storage and retrieval systems and various robotics. The company's key markets include footwear, apparel and grocery distribution, third-party logistics and general distribution.

The Times reports that the plant is expected to open in late 2019.
