Regionally Speaking, Wednesday, August 15, 2018

Food Bank of NWI web site

Today:    An in-studio update from Steve Beekman, the CEO of the Food Bank of Northwest Indiana, on its multi-goal campaign to fight hunger in the Region through its new facility in Merrillville and its programs to better service the food pantries and support programs that it services.  The Food Bank moved from Gary to Merrillville just a few months ago.  You'll be surprised to hear how it's grown in that short amount of time.

We have anotnher edition of "Green Fleet Radio," supported by South Short Clean Cities.  Host Carl Lisek talks with Kevin Moore, President of Midwest Wind & Solar LLC.

A $168 million modernization project is underway this year and into 2019 by Chicago-based McDonald's on 270 Indiana restaurants.  Rob Lancaster, VP for U.S. Restaurant Development for McDonald's, joins us with the details.

We revisit our July 25th conversation with South Shore Convention and Visitors Authority President-CEO Speros Batistatos on the feasibility study for a new convention center in Lake County.  Speros and other local officals briefed the Lake County Council on the  project on Tuesday.

And we have another letter sent to our "friend in fur," Ollie.  "Ask Ollie" is supported by the Humane Society of Northwest Indiana.  (This letter contains graphic content that may be disturbing to some listeners.)

Chris Nolte produces and hosts “Regionally Speaking” aired weekdays from noon to 1:00 p.m. He's also the temporary local "Morning Edition" host.
