GARY, Ind. (AP) — The remains of a soldier from Gary who was captured and killed during the Korean War have been identified.
The remains of Army Pfc. David Baker will be buried Saturday at Evergreen Memorial Park in Hobart.
Baker was 18 when he went missing in action in November 1950.
The Times reports the Defense Department use mitochondrial DNA analysis, anthropological analysis and circumstantial evidence to identify the remains. They were included in 34 boxes of remains sent to the Central Identification Laboratory in Honolulu.
