Regionally Speaking, Monday, May 14, 2018

Today:   Andy Downs, the executive director of the Mike Downs Center on Indiana Politics in Fort Wayne joins us to talk about last week's primary elections and his "take"on the winners and how he sees the campaigns shaping up during the months before the November general election,  This includes the contentious Republican Party race for U.S. Senate, won by Mike Braun.

Celina Weatherwax of the Valparaiso-based MAAC Foundation talks about the addition to the training center curriculum of OSHA safety training courses for northwest Indiana businesses and industries.

A discussion about human trafficking in northwest Indiana on today's program included Region psychologists Drs. Kalyani Gopal and and Sandra Demos-Kelly and Steve Armenta and Ed Peralta.  They are part of the "SAFE Coalition for Human Rights," and the organization is working on a goal to create a "holistic village" for young people rescued from human trafficking and to help them become useful members of society.  The group is holding a fundraiser on June 1st in Hobart.

Chris Nolte produces and hosts “Regionally Speaking” aired weekdays from noon to 1:00 p.m. He's also the temporary local "Morning Edition" host.
