Today: a conversation with Matt Deitchley, director of communications for the LaPorte District of the Indiana Department of Transportation, better known as INDOT. He'll review the history of Interstate-65 -- how it got so comgested -- and the plans for improving I-65 in Lake and northern Newton Counties. INDOT's contractors are widening the highway between U.S. 30 and the Kankakee River bridges and rebuilding the bridges themselves, in an effort to improve traffic flow and safety for motorists -- regardless of whether they are in trucks or vehicles. The project is on a "fast track" to be completed this fall, 18 months sooner than previously expected.
We have another edition of "Green Fleet Radio," made possible by South Shore Clean Cities. This week, host Carl Lisek talks to two representatives of a Lake County trucking and logistics operation.
We have another "Lakeshore Focus" with Keith Kirkpatrick, as aired on Lakeshore PBS. This week's topic is "improving government" with two guests. And Indiana Humanities 's STEM awareness initiative "Quantum Leap" feature focuses on the opioid problem in the Hoosier State.
