Town of Griffith, Indiana

Today:   a conversation with Griffith Police Chief Greg Mance, who is working with Indiana University Northwest faculty members and the town of Griffith's community YMCA for another series of workshops, in the hopes of adding diversity to his and other local police departments.  The workshop sessions are planned for May 19th in Gary.

Indiana Public Broadcasting's Barbara Brosher reports on the impact of any steel and aluminum tariffs on Indiana's craft breweries.  And we revisit our conversation with Valparaiso University music professor Jeff Brown about the 33rd annual Jazz Festival, which begins April 2nd and runs through April 6th. High school jazz orchestras from across Indiana will play early in the week, followed by swing and dance music from the VU Jazz Emsemble and Jazz Trio (of which Brown is a member).  The Festival's closing Friday night headline concert includes the Bill Boris Trio and Tierney Sutton and her Band.

Chris Nolte produces and hosts “Regionally Speaking” aired weekdays from noon to 1:00 p.m. He's also the temporary local "Morning Edition" host.
