NORTHWEST INDIANA- Average retail gasoline prices in Northwest Indiana have risen just over two cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $2.46/g Sunday, according to GasBuddy's daily survey of 314 gas outlets in Northwest Indiana. This compares with the national average that has fallen just over a penny per gallon in the last week to $2.50/g, according to gasoline price website GasBuddy.com.
Patrick DeHaan, head of petroleum analysis for GasBuddy says even as oil prices were in rally mode to end last week, gasoline prices continued lower with the national average moving lower for the third consecutive week.
But he says he expects more fireworks at the pump as temperatures begin to warm and gasoline demand begins to perk up.
Including the change in gas prices in Northwest Indiana during the past week, prices Sunday were almost 29 cents per gallon higher than the same day one year ago and are just under 7 cents per gallon lower than a month ago. The national average has decreased just over 7 cents per gallon during the last month and stands 22 cents per gallon higher than this day one year ago.
According to GasBuddy historical data, gasoline prices on February 26 in Northwest Indiana have ranged widely over the last five years:
from $1.67/g in 2016 on the low side to $3.87/g on the high side in 2013.
